Clarence
House has refused to confirm a newspaper report that Prince William is preparing
to join Royal Navy vessels on routine drugs patrols in the Caribbean.
It was announced last year that the 25-year-old prince was destined to spend
time on attachment with the Royal Air Force (RAF) and Royal Navy following his
December 2006 graduation from Sandhurst military academy.
Prince William has spent the
past four months on attachment with the Royal Air Force, during which
time he earned his wings. Just last week the prince made a surprise
flying visit to Afghanistan.
The final stage of the prince's attachment with the armed forces will
see William spending the summer with the Royal Navy. This news has
prompted as-yet unfounded speculation that the prince may follow his
younger brother Prince Harry in seeing front line service, possibly
aboard a Royal Navy warship.
