Newspaper Apologises To Philip Over Cancer Claim PDF Print E-mail
Written by Joanne Leyland
Friday, 08 August 2008

The London Evening Standard newspaper has offered a public apology to the Duke of Edinburgh following its claim that the Queen's 87-year-old husband had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Apologising "unreservedly" to Prince Philip and his family, the newspaper has said it accepts the story is "untrue".

The original reported, which featured across the front page of Wednesday's edition, prompted a rare public denial from Buckingham Palace and an official complaint to the Press Complaints Commission.
