We Are Amused! Comic Legends To Say 'Happy Birthday Charles'

Two of the world’s most famous comics are to join forces for an extra special gala concert marking the 60th birthday of the Prince of Wales.

Blackadder star Rowan Atkinson – a friend of the Wales family who attended the 21st birthday party of Prince William – will star alongside American comic Robin Williams for the gala which bears the Victoria-esque title of 'We Are Most Amused'.

The show, which will take place on November 12th for broadcast on ITV1 in Britain, forms part of a week of celebrations for the future king’s landmark birthday.

As previously reported, the Queen is to host a special birthday banquet on November 13th, the eve of Prince Charles’ big day.

The prince and Camilla are planning to host a smaller, more intimate party at Highgrove House the following weekend.

Although the prince is a friend of several figures from the world of comedy - from Stephen Fry to Dame Edna Everage star Barry Humphries - Robin Williams is perhaps a surprise choice for the line-up for the gala concert, proceeds of which will go to The Prince’s Trust.

The zany comic once declared of the man who shares a somewhat whacky sense of humour borne of his love of The Goons: "When you look at Prince Charles, don't you think that someone in the Royal family knew someone in the Royal family.”

Tickets for We Are Amused at the New Wimbledon Theatre go on sale tomorrow. Prices: £25 - £100.
