Diana Letters Sell At Auction PDF Print E-mail
Written by Joanne Leyland
Wednesday, 01 October 2008

The letter written by Lady Diana Spencer in which she spoke of her relief at the collapse of the relationship between her sister Sarah and the Prince of Wales sold at auction for £12,000.

As previously reported here, the note saw the future Princess of Wales admitting to her former nanny, Mary Clarke, that the matchmaking attempts of herself and her young brother, Charles, to "marry off Sarah to various men" had "failed in every direction...We even thought Prince Charles might have been in the running but were relieved when that passed."

Three other letters from Diana to Mrs Clarke were also snapped up at auction, selling for a total of £16,079.

I totally understand Colleen, I see things that her sons are doing, the big events and think how lovely it would be if Diana was here to see them.
