Fashion in itself is a a fickle thing. I think it's amazing that Diana is still high up on the list. Nine years though is a long time in fashion, but I am sure that Diana will be remembered for her elegance, just as Jackie O is.

Kate Moss? No. 1 style icon? Maybe on the catwalk, but whenever I see pics of her she is scruffy.

And what does 5,000 people mean? It's not a lot, is it? Diana was, is and always will be the most beautiful woman in the world, and the smartest dresser of them all.

God Bless HRH Diana The Princess Of Wales.

Princess Diana will always be a style icon. However, in the eight years since she died fashion has changed and if still alive she would still be number 1. They say fashion recyles every 20 years and you can be sure when the fashions of the 80s and 90s are revived, Diana will once again be number 1 and her exceptional beauty, and how she wore her clothes to express herself, will most certainly put her back in the headlines, Karl Lagerfeld not included.

This is not such a surprise to me. Although Diana may be in many of our thoughts and memories, she has faded from many other people's minds and, of course, as time goes on there are a growing number of 'young' people who don't even remember her being alive.

For example, for a 25 year old reader of Grazia magazine Diana died when the reader was about 16 or 17 and may well have had her mind on other things.

Also, Diana's fashion was often of the Royal/upper class/working woman type - ie. evening clothes and power suits. Not exactly High Street so this is not really such a surprise.

She should never have had that short haircut. It emphasised the size of her nose.

Poo...HRH Princess Diana will always be the most stylish woman.

Kate Moss?! You MUST be joking. None of the women in the poll have 1/10th of what HRH Princess Diana had and they NEVER will.

Only Jacqueline Kennedy and HSH Princess Grace have had it. Women like this are rare. And Thank G-d for them...

Actually, the top three spots reflect the ages of the voters so it is to Diana's credit that she came in fourth eight years after her death. Most of these voters were so young when Diana was alive that it is remarkable that they named her at all and surely says more about her style than any one else on the list. When they take this same poll next year, Diana will still be on it but will the others? Nothing against those ladies- just says a lot about Diana.
