Romanovs Revisited: 1860-1960 contains hundreds of incredibly rare, at times previously unseen images of members of the royal dynasty which continues to fascinate so many of us.

In the second part of our serialisation from the book, author David Cripps focuses on Empress Alexandra, the consort of Tsar Nicholas II whom history has condemned for her friendship with the Siberian 'mystic' Grigory Rasputin and her 'misrule' of Russia whilst the Emperor was commanding his troops during World War I.

I'm glad you agree with me, Kathy. Do you know if there will be a part 3?

I totally agree with you Cozy. These photos are great! I find the story of the Romanov's very interesting. I must admit though, the movie I saw about them was very confusing. Maybe I need a book to read! laughing-smiley

All the photographs published on this page have been used numerous times in many books. I don't see how they can claim to be incredibly rare, never previously seen before.
Having said that, I also collect the books in this series and have enjoyed them very much.

I have really enjoyed this serialization! The author has picked a wonderful topic, and I've never seen such pictures! I've been reading about royalty all my life and would love to know where these wonderful pictures have been hiding. Its great to see the Romanov's though---it's easy to forget that they were a real flesh and blood family, with feelings and emotions and problems. These pictures remind me of that. The Tsarina and her family are not just black and white images in little photos. David Cripps has done a wonderful job of bringing them alive again. I'll be adding his name to my list of royal MUST HAVES!
