AUDIO: A Loving Tribute From Charles For 'Darling Mama' PDF Print E-mail

Incorporating warm memories of his childhood, Prince Charles has just spoken on television throughout Britain about his "darling Mama".

The Prince, who is pictured today with youngest son Harry on an engagement in Glasgow, has offered the world a very rare insight into life as the son and heir of a monarch, speaking about his mother's devotion to duty and his very personal memories of Coronation Day.

The man who will be King also made an interesting comparison between the Queen and his sons, making the point that Elizabeth was the same age when she acceded to the throne as his sons are now.

This may come back to haunt Charles if people continue to call for William to succeed the Queen instead of him as it has often been argued by royal courtiers that, even now, William is still 'too young' to reign.

If you're a subscriber to The Royalist, make sure you are signed in and then click the play button below to hear the full five-minute speech, possibly one of the most personal and remarkable ever made by a future King.

And as always, please do let us know your thoughts about today's celebrations.

Arlyne, Why are you amazed? Charles is the spoilt boy who now has gotten his way and married Camilla with his mothers permission of course. Up to now he had to lay the blame for all his failures and self pity on the most convenient person and now that she is 80 like Edward the VII he is just counting the days until he is King. although he is nearly 60 himself it seems he may be growing up finally or is finally learning that his position does not entitle him to have every thing his own way. HM probably was not cold and distant she has many responsibilities and The Princess Royal saw things diffrently praising the Queen as a mother. So who to believe the male Whiner or the Confident Women.

It amazes me that the very person who called the Queen a "cold and distant" mother is chosen to make these comments.

I must say that the Royal family has learned from Diana of Wales how to look human. Perhaps that was Diana's mission on earth.

This speech was way overdue but I am glad he didn't wait until she was dead to give it.
