Holland Welcomes New Royal Baby Leonore PDF Print E-mail
Written by Joanne Leyland

Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands is celebrating following the birth of her sixth grandchild. Just days after Prince Constantijn's wife celebrated her 40th birthday on May 25th, Princess Laurentien has given birth to a baby girl in The Hague.

Weighing
3030 grams, Countess Leonore Marie Irene Enrica van Oranje-Nassau entered the world at 5.06pm local time at Bronovo Hospital.

Queen Beatrix's youngest son and his wife — who famously wrote a dissertation on 'Street prostitution in San Francisco' during her days at the University of California in Berkeley — already have two children: Countess Eloise, who was born on June 8th 2002, and Count Claus-Casimir.

Named after his late grandfather (Queen Beatrix's husband of thirty-six years), Claus's birth on 21st March 2004 was sadly overshadowed by the death just a few days earlier of the much loved former Queen (now Princess) Juliana, who abdicated in 1980 in favour of her daughter, Beatrix, having reigned for over four decades.
