Event:  The Prince of Wales & Duchess of Cornwall At Commomorative Services For The 90th Anniversary of The Battle of The Somme
Location: Thiepval in Northern France
Date: Saturday 1st July 2006

On what would have been the 45th birthday of Diana, Princess of Wales, her former husband and his new wife made a high profile appearance at events in Northernn France in honour of the thousands of brave men who died for King and country in the Battle of the Somme.

This was Camilla's first appearance by Charles's side since five days earlier, when the couple were pictured looking far from happy with each other at a service in honour of recipients of the Victoria Cross and George Cross at Westminster Abbey.

Although we wouldn't expect the Prince and his wife to be laughing and joking at such a serious and emotional event, onlookers were surprised by how frosty the couple appeared with each other, Camilla in particular appearing to look quite angry.

Today come claims from one of those always 'unnamed' royal sources that all is not well in the relationship, one which has spanned over three decades and caused some of the most sensational and damaging headlines for the Royal Family and much personal heartache and tragedy for all those involved, Diana included.

According to one who alleges to have witnessed recent major rows between Charles and Camilla inside their Highgrove home: "The honeymoon period is well and truly over."

Although, as you can see from several of our images, the Duchess looked very happy at relaxed at the Somme ceremonies, the Prince looked very glum (although again we have to stress that he could simply have been behaving with decorum at what was another intensely moving occasion).
